After a 40km bike ride, the reward awaited us: Café Forsthaus Fangel, its charm, its seclusion, its tranquility, its ambiance reminiscent of a bygone, almost forgotten era, and the delicious afternoon treats prepared by the Menges family... We love it and come back every year! To our guests: please refrain from complaining while waiting in line and do not push in. Seats are assigned, and if everyone adhered to this and relaxed, looking forward to coffee and cake, it could all work out! Just enjoy the peace and quiet; you're on vacation! “ Whenever we're on Usedom, no matter when, we always stop here at least once. It's a tradition, and has been for decades. We've never left a review before, so I'd like to rectify that now. Anyone who doesn't know this café is missing out. This wonderful café has been run by several generations. Even back in the GDR days, it was a hidden gem. They have excellent cakes and pastries. The dining room is still just as it always was. True tradition. The restrooms are in the building next door. I remember the days when you had to wait in long lines to snag one of the coveted free tables. It was almost the same on my last visit. Unfortunately, it seems this is the last generation running the café; there probably won't be a successor. A real shame, but nothing can be done about it. Very friendly staff. ”

“ It's a small, idyllic café nestled in the woods—or rather, quite well hidden. Time seems to have stood still here since 1937. The building resembles a large garden pavilion or orangery. Highly recommended—the cakes are fantastically delicious and homemade. I think it's a real insider tip! ”

Everything has (almost) stayed the same: the old recipes for the delicious cakes, the cake and drink menu, the old swing where I used to kill time waiting for a table almost 50 years ago—thankfully, there's no more waiting.
